What is a webmaster?
The term webmaster was coined in the ‘90s for a person responsible for maintaining one or more websites. The title may refer to web architects, web developers, site authors, website administrators, website owners, website coordinators, or website publishers.

A good webmaster keeps tabs on everything related to a website. They monitor its performance with search engines, functionality, speed and design. As well as photo and content updates – even watches trends!

Recently a survey was conducted that revealed very few web professionals identify themselves as webmasters anymore. They’re more likely to call themselves Search Engine Optimizer (SEO), online marketer, blogger, web developer, or site owner, but very few “webmasters”.

Whatever our name, if you can’t take your web person to lunch, at least buy them a coffee 🙂
