Chicago Historical Society: Just the Artifacts

CHM prides itself on its diverse and impressive array of artifacts from Chicago’s rich history. We were asked to create a fun and informative way to display the artifacts online. Before broadband connections, balancing file size and quality was more of an issue in the mid 1990’s than it is now, and add on animated graphics in the mix, and it can be a real challenge. Flash was also a relatively new and uncommon way of creating animations, so we would create animations using Photoshop and the gif format. We created a variety of fun and engaging animations and graphics for Just the Artifacts – in fact, JTA became one of their most visited pages.
