Ever wondered what CSS, SSL, UX, RWD, SEO, CMS means?

Everything seems to have their own 3 letter acronyms – including web design.

We are here to help demystify some of our popular acronyms.

CSS

CSS is the acronym of “Cascading Style Sheets”. CSS is a computer language for laying out and structuring web pages (HTML or XML). This language contains coding elements and is composed of these “cascading style sheets” which are equally called CSS files.

RWD

Responsive Web Design (RWD) is a web design approach aimed at crafting pages that are optimized for a wide range of devices. It advocates the use of primarily fluid layouts and media queries to optimize a site for different devices, instead of designing a separate site for each device.

SEO

Short for search engine optimization—is about helping search engines understand your content, and helping users find your site and make a decision about whether they should visit your site through a search engine.

CMS

A content management system (CMS) is an application that is used to manage content, allowing multiple contributors to create, edit and publish. For example: WordPress or Drupal.

UX

User experience (UX) refers to the user’s journey when interacting with a product or service. UX design is the process of creating products or services that provide meaningful experiences for users, involving many different areas of product development including branding, usability, function, and design.

UI

User interface (UI) design is likely the first thing you encounter when you use an application or visit a website. User interface design is responsible for a product’s appearance, interactivity, usability, behavior, and overall feel.
