Logitech MX CREATIVE CONSOLE
(Review by DavidB)
Over the years we all accumulate a *few* computer mice and other input peripherals. Once in a while, however, an input device comes along that really improves your workflow! The Logitech MX CREATIVE CONSOLE was recently released and after a month of use, has proven to be the most useful peripheral in years. Many companies have tried their hand at wheels and keypads, with some success. But the Creative Console brings all the best of years of “almost-there devices” that just didn’t work for me.
Customization is king and Logitech has embraced it completely. While it comes with tons of included scripts and presets, the real power for me is how easy it is to make my own control setup, both physically with the two separate devices, as well as the ability to create actions, shortcuts, text labels and custom icons for almost everything. Adding and arranging the buttons is as easy as drag and drop! And with Logitech’s Bolt wireless connection, you can control up to six devices with one USB receiver. (EG I also have my MX Anywhere 3s for Mac mouse connected to the same receiver as the Console.)
The Dialpad has a rotating dial and a spinning wheel, as well as 4 customizable buttons. Its full integration with the Keypad and ease of use make this an amazing pair which can both be placed anywhere anywhere on your desk that fits your workflow best. The Keypad itself offers the ability to customize and easily scroll through 15 “pages” of layouts. Amazingly, each of the nine buttons is actually a full colour LCD screen!
The MX CREATIVE CONSOLE can be used with any software, but is initially focused on Adobe products and comes packaged with Adobe presets, but their Marketplace also has many presets for additional software (Ableton, Zoom etc). For a limited time, the MX CREATIVE CONSOLE comes with 3 free months of the full Adobe Creative Cloud – which you can even apply to an existing account!
