Social Media Training
Social media are different from traditional or industrial media in many ways, including quality, reach, frequency, usability, immediacy, and permanence. Social media operates in a dialogic transmission system, (many sources to many receivers). This is in contrast to traditional media that operates under a monologic transmission model (one source to many receivers).
WHAT IS SOCIAL MEDIA?
Websites and applications that enable users to create and share content or to participate in social networking are considered social media.
WHY USE SOCIAL MEDIA?
52% of online adults use multiple social media sites. More women than men, and more young than old. Slightly more women (76%) use social media, while men trail at 72%. Almost 90% of those aged 18-29 use social media, and 82% of those 30-49 use social media.
People who make $30-75K per year use social media less. The numbers slightly favor those who make under $30,000 per year or over $75,000 (data from 2013 survey). Social media carries more weight than ever. It’s clearly not a fad, or a phase. It continues to grow as a habit, and new platforms continue to appear and develop.
