It is good to have a hobby!

As much as we love the internet and designing websites, we also like other creative interests – not on our computers.  And over time we have learned that these “other” interests (aka hobbies) re-energize us!

DavidB likes to build Lego sets and make movies.  You can see his latest creation of the infamous Alien scene (take a look!)

Taking time away from computer design avoids burnout and eye strain.

JameyB likes to garden.  From growing an avocado tree from a pit, to seasonal flowers on the patio, gardening takes her away from her desk, from the computer and gives her room to think and imagine new things.

Other YPBCo team members like to knit, volunteer with a local pet shelter as well as riding roller coasters.  Another one likes to go to as many neighborhood block parties she can to see live bands.  Many of our freelancers blog or Instagram about their hobbies.

So why have a hobby?

Like we mentioned before it can help with avoiding burnout and eye strain.  Hobbys have been shown to lower stress and re-energize.  Other reports state that outside activities increase office productivity and time management.  Many hobbys offer social opportunities many freelancers are missing by working from home.  Go on – start something!  Make time for your hobby.

Tell us, what is your hobby?
